Mike ran his GT350 at PBIR (Palm Beach International Raceway) & Tail of the Dragon on back to back days after installing the DSC Sport V2 controller. The DSC controller replaces the factory shock controller, the DSC Sport V2 is a state-of-the-art user definable suspension controller that fully interfaces with the factory dash display and controls. The V2 Controller features velocity calculations as well as brake pressure, g-force, acceleration, speed (mph), and full individual shock calibration tables. Digitally tune the chassis just as you would the engine! Tune more grip into the tire, while tuning a more compliant ride for the street. The DSC Sport V2 Controller is equally at home as a daily driver or full-time track setup.
The system opens up the factory dampers providing a fully active system. It’s fully programmable allowing you to tune by g-force, brake pressure, throttle position, shock piston velocity, etc. The stock dampers are limited in their inputs and do not take into account as much of the inputs above. This is equivalent to a set of mid-range coilovers that would produce comparable performance in a best case scenario. If you’re looking at coil overs and are looking to spend the money on a serious setup then you probably won’t go this route.
Here are some of the tuning features:
G-Force: Can set the main damping force for each damper for any given g-force as well as set the G comfort parameters for ride quality.
Braking: Can set the damping force modifier for each damper for any given brake pressure input force. By leveraging brake pressure the damper force can be increased before the vehicle begins diving under braking or waiting for the G sensor (predictive).
Acceleration: Can set the damping force modifier for each damper for the given throttle position. By leveraging this feature damper force can be used to put power down on corner exit or squat on straight line launches and can also use predictive for higher speeds and increased dampening.
Speed: Can set speed at which the system does or does not influence damper force - leveraged for increased stability at specified speeds. Shock Calibration: All tuning areas reference this aspect - set the allowable range of electric current sent to the dampers. OEM dampers: 1500mA full soft, 500mA full stiff
Velocity: Velocity tuning for ride height equipped cars.
PTM: Can edit characteristics of Performance Traction Management (Rain Dry Track Sport)
Tuning: Can be done through a USB connection or WIFI connection.
Firmware: DSC will send out updates via email to customers and update the base canned tune files.
- My experience -
Cruising & Daily Driving (Normal): It’s improved quality on in normal mode as it has softened severe impact from road based bumps, etc. I have added a few other suspension parts and it’s made my ride a bit more harsh therefore sending me through the ceiling when hitting a slight bump. The DSC has softened those suspension impacts.
Spirited Driving & Tail of the Dragon (Sport): My testing was on the very windy TOTD road which allowed me to experience some serious G’s at low speeds. The tail also has some dips include along with the turns so horizontal and vertical body movement was present. The car felt completely planted under significant steering, braking, & acceleration even when braking into a hard left hand turn which apexed in a large dip with subsequent acceleration.
Track Day at PBIR (Track): I had not driven PBIR before however I had driven on Road Atlanta and the FIRM previously to this test. I felt that the suspension responded with an improved feedback but I cannot say for sure as I ended up stuck in traffic and was not able to push towards the limits. I can say as I also felt with Sport a more ability to put power down out of a corner and increased turn in ability whilst heading into an open apex.
If you have any questions I can connect you to the DSC Sport team.
