2007 CADILLAC CTS-V
THE STORY:
It all started while the Camaro was out of service (getting the rear end installed) and I got bored thinking what my next car would be when the Camaro is complete or as a backup race car when the Camaro under goes an engine swap and out of service for extended period of time. Lets just say filtering for a V8 with manual transmission can be a very dangerous car search to your wallet!
In this video I test drive a CTS-V and fall in love.
Naturally life is to short to stay stock below is a wish list upgrades that will slowly find their way on the car. Videos and pictures of any updates. In this video before and after Borla Cat-Back and K&N Air Intake.
ENGINE / TRANSMISSION:
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT: LS2 6.0 V8 - 400 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 395 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm / T56 6-Speed Manual Gear Ratio 1st 2.97, 2nd 2.07, 3rd 1.43, 4th 1.00, 5th 0.84, 5th 0.56 Final 3.73
UPGRADE & STATUS: Borla Cat-Back Exhaust - Complete / K&N Cold Air Intake - Complete / Headers - Coming Soon / Supercharger - Wishful Thinking lol / Short Throw Shifter - Eventually
DESIRED RESULT: Atleast V2 level of power.
ESTIMATED COST: $8k to $12k
Next up a quick video of a special course after the V's second Autocross Event. As cruel as it may seem the tires are 10 years old with the 7500 original miles, notice I was nice and waited before shifting to not grind gears :) the Camaro is not pampered the same lol
WHEELS / TIRES:
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT & UPGRADE STATUS: Wheels - Stock 18" x 8.5" with 48mm offset 6 x 115 Lug Pattern M12 x 1.5 / Tires - Goodyear Eagle RS 245-45-ZR18 - Upgrade Complete!
UPGRADE: Wheels - OEM Wheels Black Chrome PVD Coats by Detroit Wheel and Tire / Tires - Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R 245-45-ZR18
DESIRED RESULT: Sporty Black Chrome unique look, with railroad track death grip tires.
ESTIMATED COST: $1.5k to $2k / SPENT: $1.7k
AFTER THOUGHT: Want to squeeze out some extra tread for my next set of tires but sizes are tricky, want a square setup but ever size up will also change diameter of tire which will need a tune to keep speedometer correct and not trigger stability system errors.
The V is back to Autocross, and with only notable upgrade being new tires she places 1st in class! The last run we went all out!
SUSPENSION:
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT & UPGRADE STATUS: Shocks/Springs - Coil-over Kit / Who knows when! / Sway Bars - Hotchkis Sway Bars! / Bushings - Creative Steel Complete Bushings Kit, Eventually
UPGRADE: Coming Soon!
DESIRED RESULT: With a lower ride height, overall stiffer suspension and a controlled wheel hop car will better handle corners and power.
ESTIMATED COST: $1.0k to $3.0k / SPENT: $0.0k
AFTER THOUGHTS: None yet :)
DRIVETRAIN:
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT & UPGRADE STATUS: GETRAG Garbage Rearend - Replace with Creative Steel 8.8 Kit
UPGRADE: Need moola!
DESIRED RESULT: No more nasty wheel hop!
ESTIMATED COST: $5k to $6k / SPENT: $0.0k
AFTER THOUGHTS: None yet :) but can't wait, the car is unbearable to drive spiritedly with shitty rear end wheel hop.
